FAQ

Acupuncture needles are extremely fine, with some nearly as thin as a human hair, and insertion is often barely noticeable. During treatment, you may feel gentle pressure, heaviness, or other subtle sensations around the area being treated. When targeting tight or dysfunctional muscles, a brief twitch response may occur as the muscle releases. Many patients find acupuncture surprisingly comfortable and relaxing.
If you’re apprehensive about trying acupuncture, just let me know. I can use finer needles and gentler stimulation, adjusting the treatment to your comfort level to make your experience as comfortable and relaxing as possible.
-
Absolutely not! Every acupuncture needle is sterile, individually packaged, and single-use. Once a needle has been used, it is immediately and safely disposed of.

Not at this time, but hopefully in the future. There are currently regulatory and legislative barriers to insurance coverage for acupuncture in the Virgin Islands, and changes to the existing framework are needed before coverage can become more widely available.
In the meantime, I offer community acupuncture as a more affordable way to receive treatment. My goal is to make acupuncture accessible to as many people in our community as possible.

The number, frequency, and length of treatments will vary depending on factors such as your overall health, the nature and severity of your condition, and how you respond to treatment.
Most conditions benefit from a series of treatments. Acute conditions may improve within 4–8 sessions, while significant injuries or recurring conditions may require 10–12 sessions. Long-standing or chronic conditions may benefit from a longer course of care.
As you improve, treatments are typically spaced farther apart. Some patients choose to continue with weekly, monthly, or quarterly maintenance treatments to support their overall health and help manage recurring concerns.

Be sure to eat a light meal and stay well hydrated before your appointment, ideally 1–2 hours before treatment.

I understand that plans change and emergencies happen. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice whenever possible.
Appointments canceled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged 50% of the session fee. No-shows may be charged the full session fee. Exceptions may be made for emergencies or other reasonable circumstances.
If you arrive late, your treatment may need to be shortened to avoid delaying appointments scheduled after yours.
To cancel or reschedule, please use the cancellation feature in the online appointment scheduler. You may also text 440-715-0511 or email info@enamakyacu.com.
Thank you for respecting the time reserved for your care and for other patients.

Response to treatment varies from person to person and depends on the nature and severity of the condition. For orthopedic concerns, patients may notice decreased pain and improved range of motion within the first few days following treatment, and sometimes immediately after a session. Acute conditions often respond more quickly, while chronic or long-standing concerns may require more time and continued treatment.
It is normal to experience mild soreness or fatigue following treatment. Occasional bruising may also occur and typically resolves within a few days.
-
Rest and stay well hydrated after your treatment. Drinking plenty of water supports normal hydration and recovery. If you experience soreness, applying gentle heat or taking a warm Epsom salt bath can help relax the muscles and ease discomfort.
